Job Title: Special Education Diagnostician

 

Reports to: Executive Director, Special Populations

 

Dept.: Special Populations Services

 

Exemption Status: Exempt/Professional

 

Primary Purpose:

Implement evaluation duties for assigned campus(es) that will result in provision of services in compliance with State and Federal guidelines.

 

Qualifications:

 

Education/Certification:

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Certification from TEA

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Minimum 2 years teaching experience (special education preferred)
  • 1 year preferred diagnostician experience

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Obtain data reports in order to maintain schedule for timely completion of re-evaluations.
  • Plan evaluation schedule to optimize time in order to meet required timelines.
  • Coordinate with other members of the multidisciplinary team to provide coordinated evaluation within timelines.
  • Collaborate and coordinate ARD/IEP schedule with campus staff.
  • Manage schedule to inform the director when assistance is needed in meeting timelines.
  • Maintain adequate supply of protocols, etc. and place order for materials in a timely manner.
  • Assist other professionals as time permits.
  • Communicate with building administrators regarding state assessment program.
  • Report discrepancies in information from eligibility folders to the director of special populations or supervisor.
  • Provide documentation of services to director as requested.
  • Consult and coordinate with teachers to assist in intervention strategies and techniques.
  • Utilize various assessment instruments and techniques as a part of the multidisciplinary team to assist in identifying students with disabilities.
  • Demonstrates high degree of knowledge, understanding and skill with respect to the evaluation process.
  • Recommend instructional techniques and materials to meet individual needs.
  • Write compliant evaluation reports documenting State and Federal requirements.
  • Provide training on the campus as requested by the Principal or Director.
  • Train and assist teachers in doing criterion-referenced testing as needed.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of knowledge regarding special education compliance requirements.
  • Seek professional growth and training in areas needing improvement.
  • Communicate with appropriate school personnel regarding evaluation results and strategies.
  • Communicate with the parent (and student when appropriate) regarding evaluation results and strategies.
  • Constructively interprets school services and guidelines when appropriate.
  • Coordinates and collaborates with school professionals to benefit students.
  • Displays sensitivity to the concerns of staff members and colleagues.
  • Works cooperatively and constructively with other departments, staff and parents.
  • Provides consultative assistance to teachers upon request (including strategies, assist with IEP goals/objectives, etc.) and provides follow-up as needed.
  • Maintains confidentiality of student records.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
