Job Title: Head Football Coach / Athletic Coordinator

Primary Purpose:
The Head Football Coach / Campus Athletic Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all sports programs on the high school campus. This person is also responsible for supervision of all coaches at the high school’s feeder middle schools. This coach / coordinator is responsible to the athletic director for the supervision of all student sports and coaches.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Valid Texas teaching certificate
- Athletic Coordinator or Head Coach experience preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- General knowledge of coaching techniques and procedures
- Knowledge of University Interscholastic League (UIL) rules
- Ability to instruct and supervise student athletes
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Experience as coach or participant in some form of athletics
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- To keep the athletic director and building principal informed of needs and problems within the athletic program.
- To serve as head coach of the varsity football team and be responsible for organization of the football program throughout the high school and middle schools assigned.
- To make suggestions and recommendations in regards to program needs in their zone.
- To work with principal in scheduling training periods for all athletics to best utilize fields, courts, and gymnasiums available.
- To assist head coaches and approve schedules for interschool athletic contests.
- To evaluate and make recommendations for coaches at his high school and feeder middle school.
- To attend all district meetings with the campus principal as a representative of their school.
- To be responsible for knowing and carrying out all UIL policies. Meet with staff and review rules at the beginning of school.
- To attend all athletic contests on campus when possible. To secure working personnel for all campus contests.
- Will work with the press / media in promoting schools and programs.
- To make all head coaches aware of the lettering procedure for an award jacket.
- To inventory equipment of any head coach that is leaving the district.
- To be available to perform any other duties; which may be assigned by principal or athletic director.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervise assigned head and assistant coaches and student athletic assistants.

Tools/Equipment Used: Athletic equipment, standard office equipment including computer and peripherals and other instructional equipment; automated external defibrillator (AED)

Motion: Frequent walking; repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; frequent physical movements
associated with sport; moderate grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension and reaching

Environment: Frequent district wide and statewide travel; work must be performed on-site.
Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; frequent prolonged and irregular hours
